I love the Tarot cards.

I love the Tarot cards. Being an artist I appreciate their beauty and find that they stand on their own as works of art. I appreciate many decks as works of art, but I still like the old standard Rider Waite--actually Universal Waite to work with. It was built on a firm metaphysical foundation.

I think it is important to "own" the cards. It is too easy to just rely on book meanings. But I find that when reading for people and for myself that the symbols speak in many ways, but always in a way that is appropriate to the querent and to the issue at hand.
